Dress Code                                  The key to dressing for Kilimanjaro is layering. This approach allows you to                                                                adjust your clothing based on varying temperatures throughout the climb.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Nale Moru Gate (1990m) to Simba Camp (2625m)

Your adventure begins at Nale Moru village, the starting point of the Rongai route. Trek through verdant farmland and fragrant pine forests, keeping an eye out for playful Colobus monkeys, and perhaps even a glimpse of elephants or buffalo. Your first camp, Simba Camp, sits at the edge of the moorland zone.

Day 2: Simba Camp (2625m) to Kikelewa Camp (3679m)

Ascend towards Kibo, enjoying lunch at First Caves (3482m) after a 5.8km hike. Continue trekking to Kikelewa Camp, where the vastness of Kilimanjaro truly begins to unfold. Find a refreshing water source in the stream below the cave.

Day 3: Kikelewa Camp (3679m) to Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4310m)

A short but steep climb up grassy slopes rewards you with stunning views of the Kenyan plains. Reach Mawenzi Tarn Hut, nestled beneath the dramatic cliffs of Mawenzi, leaving the vegetation behind. Rest and acclimatize in this unique landscape.

Day 4: Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4310m) to Kibo Hut (4700m)

Traverse the lunar-like “saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo. After a few hours, the majestic summit of Kilimanjaro comes into view, with the path to your high camp clearly visible. Rest and prepare for your summit attempt.

Day 5: Kibo Hut (4700m) to Uhuru Peak (5895m) and down to Horombo Hut (3700m)

The big day! Begin your summit push around midnight, a challenging but rewarding climb. Pass Hans Meyer Cave (5220m) and reach Gillman’s Point (5681m) at sunrise. A final push brings you to Uhuru Peak (5895m), the roof of Africa! Descend to Kibo Hut for a meal and rest before continuing to Horombo Hut.

Day 6: Horombo Hut (3700m) to Marangu Gate (1860m)

Your final descent takes you through heath and moorland to Mandara Hut (2700m) for lunch. Continue through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you celebrate your achievement! Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved rest.
